What is CASE?

CASE stands for Consumer's Association of Singapore. Its members are consumers. If a consumer feels he has not been given a fair deal, he can complain to CASE. Employers of FDW's are consumers too.

CASE always acts for the benefit of consumers. They will take the sellers to task if they do not give consumers a fair deal. For example when the gas companies failed to reduce the price of the petrol sufficiently, CASE took them to task. Unfortunately for consumers, the oil companies are so huge and powerful.

There was a time when coffee shops raised their price by 5 cents or 10 cents. Coffee black used to cost 10 cents when this EA was a boy. Now it is 60 cents - 6 times as much. Noodles used to cost 30 cents a bowl. Now it costs $3.00, 10 times as much. Case took up the cause of consumers and criticised the coffee shops for raising their price. As a consumer, I say "Three cheers for CASE". For without CASE the price of coffee might be $1 today.

But the bad news is CASE is clashing. Read all about in the Straits Times of 25th September 2002 or visit The Straits Times Interactive web site. Then when you have done reading, just close the window to return to this web site.
